Trip to the bank?

So, it took me 2 hours round trip to get to the only Wachovia near the city. Ridiculous, huh?
But it feels great to finally get a big paycheck into my account.

Where to begin...

Let me begin with my job. It has made me realize that I hate working with gay people....its like too much drama. And for one, I don't consider my flame to burn that bright so sometimes it gets frustrating working around people who just let it all show. I was working yesterday and I did something wrong and my boss kinda scolded me. I was about to walk out but I was like "I am better than this". By the end of yesterday I felt better cause I am starting to get into the groove of things. I guess, for me, I must go through some trial and error in order to really grasp a concept.

I feel like I have been living up to my age since I have been here. The most fun I have is going out to the bars with friends and just having a good ole time. The bars here are different like I have said in previous entries, but man, the ones I went to on Saturday were ridiculous. It was around midnight and Mike texted me to come meet him with his friends down at this bar called the Anvil ( the glory of living here is going out at midnight beecause nothing closes early especially on Saturdays). I met Mike outside (he had just gotten off work and he looked adorable). Anyway I got a pitcher of beer for both of us and we just all chatted *his friends were already beyond obliterated* but it was cool. They had two TV's in the bar, one playing a gameshow and the other playing something that I am not going to go into too much detail, but maybe you can figure it out. After an hour or so we all gathered our stuff and headed to this bar called "Jackhammer".

I had heard about this place, but didn't really know what I was getting into. First off, there was a cover, but this cover guaranteed you at least one drink which was nice. We got in and this place was packed, 3 floors of men dancing around, some dressed, some in some sort of leather outfit (haha it was bizarre). We drank......drank.......and drank even more. Mike and I were the only ones left to be out cause the rest of the gang called it a night. We continued to drink and watch this guy play pac-man at one of the arcade machines. By around like 3 AM i believe, Mike was like "let me show you the basement."

Well in order to get into the basement you have to wear some kind of leather piece HAHA. Well we took a little tour of it at least to show me what it was. IT was like this seedy dark place with a bar and all these guys around half in the nude (we don't have these places back at home, I felt like i was in an episode on showtime or some kind of law and order episode). Anyway to make this short caues I know its prob brutal to read, they had a room down in teh basement where people could have their "fun". It was called the "hole". HOW TRASHY.

I ended up getting back to Mike's apartment when the sun began to rise. JEEZE.

Things are going well. I don't feel like a tourist anymore. I am making friends. I actually went out to all you can eat sushi lastnight with the roommates then I met Mike for margaritas. I am happy...I have someone I can connect with, friends, a job, and I am getting my bearings straight with the city. I can see myself definitely living here.

I apologize if my blog entries are all about my drinking episodes lol, but I barely get out when I am home so this is all new experiences for me.

some recent pics

The Drum...the drum....the drum

Well,

It's been awhile since I posted lets see...

I met a few people from Florida within the past week...thats when I feel like i hit my stride here. That night was pretty ridiculous...met some native chicago peeps and now they are like my real good friends here, but we went bar hopping that night *from what I can remember* haha can't really go into too much detail from that but I always wonder how I found my way home. I remember I was walking back from IHOP at 4 in the morning and some guy came up to me and grabbed my arm and said he was cold...I was like whatevs. I remember coming upon Roscoes and was like ok I know where I am at. A night to remember for sure.

The next day i met everyone back in downtown (hangover or not) and we went to the modern wing which was the new addition to the art institute museum. Ummm it was cool but SO MANY PEOPLE, I felt like i was in the WALMART of museums cause you could barely move in the exhibits....will def have to go back but BUT i did see a jackson pollock and I am not really a fan but it was incredible to finally see one of those in person. Ill post a pic of it.

After that museum visit we walked around millenium park and up and down michigan avenue which is the shopping district...o how I wanted to shop. But Justin and I went to this really cool place to eat. It's called foodlife. They have like 10 restaurants in the area. They give you a plastic card (almost like a credit card) and you get anything you want and just charge it to that card then at the end after you are done you pay....so kind of a cool concept. Not much happened after that, Justin and I walked around and my feet had HUGE blisters on them and I just couldn't walk anymore.

The next day I met back up with them in downtown and we went to the MCA (museum of contemporary art). I do have to say this was my favorite thus far. I love contemporary art and how interactive it is. Like for example, when you walk in there is this hall to the right. ITS BRIGHT YELLOW. As you walk down the hall, you lose color and everyone basically turns black and white. I felt like i was in pleasantville or the wizard of oz it was AMAZING. A lot of the other stuff was really cool in that museum.

That night we went to NAVY PIER....not really a fan, reminded me of the beach so I won't really talk about that too much.

After all that fun I was really considering going home cause this job hunt was just getting unbearable, but things started to lift up. I now have friends to hang out with here...I got my ticket to see Patrick Wolf on June 15th (totally excited he is like on my top 5 to see in concert). And to make this week even better I got a job.

Yes you heard it, I got a job. This job is at this place called BEATNIKS...its like this thrift shop with vintage clothing, undies, theater makeup, costumes, wigs, jewelry, lets just say its super GAY, but its great cause its right in boystown and ill get to really be around the area especially during PRIDE, its going to be ridiculous.

So lastnight I celebrated for this recent employment. Mike and I went out to eat (a friend I met while I was here) and then we went to Juana's (another girl I met while I have been here). We pregammed then we went to this 80's place but it totally was a bust. So we all decided to go to this really cool place up near where I live called club BERLIN. AHHH i wish we had a club like this back at home...totally my scene. Great music (Bjork, great electronica) great drinks, cool people and its open till 4AM!!!!! Clubs in SC stay open till like 2 haha. I danced my ass off (for lack of a better word). It was a great night.

so Now I am just relaxing today. I am updating my music, writing this blog, I may go over to the girls place later to learn how to embroider and make things. I start work tomorrow at noon so I better cherish this free time while i can....actually I am over having free time. Sorry for the long post but it was indeed time for an update. Until then, this is Ian signing out.
